Veho Leader coaches changemakers

Supervisors play a crucial role in implementing change within an organisation. With the Veho Leader training path, Veho equips its supervisors with the tools they need for this task.

The last several years have been exceptionally turbulent for the automobile industry. Major megatrends such as climate change, digitalisation and demographic change affect the industry in many ways. There is increasingly vigorous debate on harmful emissions and different forms of mobility.

The automotive industry has responded to these changes by undergoing structural renewal. This is also what Veho has done. Having encountered such a tough environment for over 15 years already, the Veho Leader training course is particularly important to the company.

The ability to lead change and communicate a clear direction is really important." — Minna Koisti, Human Resources Director, Veho

Tools and networking

In the leadership programme developed by Veho last year in cooperation with Talent Vectia, change was the dominant theme.

Self-management has become more and more important in recent years, Koisti says.

The main goals of the programme were to:

  • Provide practical tools for leadership support
  • Improve performance
  • Strengthen self-management and one’s own development as a supervisor
  • Reinforce leadership culture
  • Develop skills in networking and knowledge of other business areas

In the latest programme, working together was emphasized in addition to content. The managers were divided into small groups and experimented with different management techniques between the different modules and verbally sparred together. In the final stages of the course, the superiors brought their insight together in the form of a Veho Leader growth book.

The importance of senior management maintaining a strong presence was emphasized in the supervisor coaching. The first module was opened by the company’s CEO, and in the strategy module the management of each business area presented the strategy for their own area. On the last day of the training, the entire management team was present to follow the final work of the participants.

Leader course participants thrive at Veho

The fact that more supervisors apply for Veho Leader coaching than can be accommodated is proof of its significance and impact.

“Past participants have found the course so rewarding that word has spread throughout the organization. As a result, there is high demand for places”, says Veho Human Resources Business Partner Marjut Jumisko.

Those who have completed the Veho Leader training have advanced well in the organization, which indicates that the coaching has helped them to improve their interpersonal skills and self-confidence. In turn, this access to a rewarding and motivating career path has further increased their commitment to the company.

In addition to the inspirational coaching, Veho participants have given positive feedback to Talent Vectia on the content design.

“We are continuing our fruitful cooperation with Talent Vectia by considering which of the coaching themes are most beneficial to the participants, what kind of situations the supervisors encounter in their day-to-day work, and how they can deal with these constructively”, says Jumisko.
